One strobe with grid

All pictures were take with just one strobe (Elinchrom D-Lite 4) with a 21cm parabolic reflector and a 20° grid. Distance to the model was about 1.5 metres.

A simpler lighting setup is hardly possible.
You know that when you put one light source on the right side of the camera and there's nothing on the left (not even a reflector), you'll have to deal with strong shadows on the right side of the model. In fact, this was exactly the effect I was looking for. I asked the model to keep looking in the direction of the strobe, otherwise half of his face would have been covered with shadows as well. I didn't want that in this case.
Simple attributes can help to give a the model a more relaxed pose. The sunglasses in this case were used for this purpose.
